Clients often ask how I will understand what they are wanting for their logo design. First, all clients are given an intake questionnaire that I send via email. Some questions are basic for example: what’s your business name? Do you have a tag line? Do you have a color combination in mind for your brand? Do you have examples of what you life or even don’t like when it comes to Logos?
The above are just a few basic questions but where I find I get the most important information or shall a say inspiration from a client is I request them to do a Pinterest inspiration board. This is so helpful as a designer to be able to see what a client is attracted too, examples of logos they like, and what colors they are attracted to (a lot of times after I get their Pinterest inspiration board they have every color but the colors they originally chose.) After I receive the inspiration board I will do a basic sketch of logo ideas based on their inspiration board, some times that can mean 5 sketches or some times that can mean 20 sketches. It really all depends on how inspired I am at that time.
What inspires me? Well, pretty much everything and anything. Nature is a huge inspiration as the shapes and lighting can make something that looks like nothing be something magnificent. Art and music are inspirational to me and can set a mood when I design. People are fascinating and I can get inspiration from a patterned dress a woman is wearing or even talking with a friend can at times bring inspiration just by something they said.
